Select three foundation shades that closely match your customer’s skintone.
Have your customer swipe all three foundation shades on her face, from cheek to jawline.
View in natural light, if possible.
The foundation that seems to disappear will be her correct shade.

If you can’t find the right shade for a customer, you can help her mix her own. (This works best with liquid foundation.) She can mix the shades on the back of her hand and apply with a foundation brush.
